We were invited to create a fused glass outdoor feature for King Edward VI Grammar School, Birmingham to commemorate the schools 125th anniversary. We approached this by carrying out workshops for 130 pupils to create a fused glass tile each based on their memories of the school. These were made using various techniques such as layering metal wire and sheet between glass and using coloured glass stringers and frits. The tiles were then laminated to 6mm float glass and fitted within brushed stainless steel frames varying in height from 1.6 – 2metres and located within the school grounds.
